I’m Troy Mitchell, LCSW, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Portland, Oregon. I hold a Master’s in Social Work and a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice.

I’ve been where a lot of men find themselves — completely lost, addicted, angry, and making destructive choices. Severe alcohol and cocaine addiction took me down a hard road. In the late 1980s and 1990s I racked up multiple felony convictions (bank robberies, robbery, escape) and ended up serving 23 years in prison. I take full ownership of the damage I caused to others and to myself.

During the last 17 years of that sentence, I stopped bullshitting myself and got serious. I committed to recovery, education, and becoming a better man. I’ve been clean and sober since 1997 — 29 years strong — Thanks to my therapist, AA, the 12 Steps, Yoga/meditation, being responsible, making amends when needed and discipline.

That long road taught me how to face shame, guilt, anger, and regret without letting them destroy you. Today I specialize in working with men who are struggling with addiction, trauma, depression, anxiety, feeling stuck, or carrying the weight of past mistakes. Whether you’re dealing with relationship problems, fatherhood struggles, identity after rock bottom, or just the quiet sense that you should be doing better — I get it.

Since my release in 2012, I’ve had zero legal issues, built a solid career helping others, and earned the trust of the communities I serve. No drama, no excuses — just a man who changed his life for good.

If you’re a guy who’s tired of carrying it alone and ready to get his shit together, I offer a straight-talking, no-judgment space to do the work. You’re not too far gone. Real change is possible — I’m proof of it.
